Preston Holmes: biographical sketch

Preston started kayaking while attending graduate school in neuroscience at UCSD (taught and inspired by classmate Rocky Contos). He has paddled many rivers in the Sierra Nevada and parts of the West. His expertise in computers and early use of the internet brought him acclaim from many, with one of the first web pages featuring kayaking stories (see at (www.ptone.com). He learned to work with epoxy resin and fiberglass and built a prototype fiberglass surfing kayak that was adopted by Riot as their original model and still paddles occasionally.

Preston currently lives in Santa Barbara with his wife Beverly and recently had a baby boy. He teaches and manages computers at a local school.
