General participants on SierraRios trip who are competent kayakers can reserve a kayak and paddle (no extra cost). The above listed boats are in Ethiopia.
OARS/PADDLES: The oars available are Cataract SGG oar shafts (composite carbon/fiberglass material) with MagnumII blades and 9' or 10'. Kayak paddles are either AT or Werner straight shaft or bent shaft 197-200 cm and almost all are fiberglass with 30o feathering. Anyone in charge of a raft or kayak takes responsibility for damage to oars/paddles that may occur while in charge of a boat. There are some 1-ft oar exenders to convert 9' oars to 10' oars. Currently in Ethiopia there are:
